2020 Honda Civic Type R Unveiled in Tokyo

The 2020 Honda Civic Type R was unveiled earlier this month at the Tokyo Auto Salon and although it’s not expected on the market until later this year, the 2020 Civic Type R will offer a wide range of noteworthy changes and improvements.

For starters, the 2020 Honda Civic Type R will be faster and sportier than ever thanks to revised aerodynamics, better engine cooling, an improved suspension, and upgraded brakes. It also features improved safety with the addition of Honda Sensing technology as well as new colors with the arrival of the new Type R-exclusive Boost blue.

There will be a new Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel as well as restyled shifter knob with shorter throws. The improved suspension will feature updated dampers for better ride comfort, stiffer rear bushings that will improve grip, and a new front suspension housing bracket with lower friction for a better steering feel.

The 2020 Civic Type R gets a race-bred 2.0-litre direct-injected turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 306 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque through a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential.
