When a segment is as popular as compact SUVs, it is to be expected that it will have a lot of competition. All manufacturers want to offer a compact SUV to their customers, and they usually push themselves to offer the best product possible. This is certainly the case with the 2021 Honda CR-V, which this year faces the all-new, completely redesigned Nissan Rogue.
The 2021 Nissan Rogue may be brand new and one of the most spacious models in its class, but it cannot compete with the efficiency, space and performance of the 2021 Honda CR-V. Let's take a closer look.
The 2021 Honda CR-V is more spacious and more versatile than the 2021 Nissan Rogue
The 2021 Honda CR-V and 2021 Nissan Rogue were already among the most spacious SUVs in their class, but the CR-V has always had the edge and that doesn't change even with the redesign of the Nissan Rogue.
The CR-V offers 2,999 liters of passenger space in the cabin, about fifteen liters more than the Rogue. In the trunk, the 2021 Honda CR-V offers 1,110 liters of cargo space with the rear seat in place compared to 1,033 liters in the 2021 Nissan Rogue and when you lower the rear seat, the 2021 Honda CR-V offers nearly 50 liters more.
That's not a huge difference, it's true, but the fact remains that the 2021 Honda CR-V is roomier in every way than the 2021 Nissan Rogue.
It is also more powerful with a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 190 horsepower compared to 181 for the Nissan Rogue. Because the CR-V's engine is turbocharged, it also delivers more direct acceleration at low speeds and more confident passing.
Despite its superior power, however, the Honda CR-V offers better fuel economy with an average of 7.7 liters per 100 kilometers versus 8.1 liters per 100 kilometers with front-wheel drive versions while all-wheel drive Honda CR-V models consume 8.1 liters per 100 kilometers on average versus 8.3 liters per 100 kilometers.
